Anya started her journey as a dancer at the age of three, when she attended a ballet and jazz class that inspired her love for the art. She went on to join a team at Aerodance, where she trained under Ranjani Manda in semiclassical and folk styles of dance. She also learnt various bollywood styles at Starrz Dance with Swati Savle. Her team competed in many regional dance competitions such as ICC, CCF, and India Waves winning several awards, Anya has also competed as a solo Bollywood artist for the last eight years years winning many trophies. She joined the Youth Emerging Performers at the troupe’s inception in 2010, and moved on to becoming a Junior Emerging Performer and instructor in Jan 2016.

During this time she continued her training in Kathak, which she started when she was six years old, at the Chhandam School of Kathak, founded by the late Guru Pandit Chitresh Das. Through the Mona Khan Company, she has been given the opportunities to perform at Warriors Halftime Event, the San Francisco Ethnic Dance Festival, and even at Prime Minister Modi's reception in the SAP Center. She is currently exploring modern dance in her high school’s modern dance company. Most recently, she has joined Guru Chitresh Das’ disciple Antara Bharadwaj in her company, Antara Asthaayi, to further pursue her kathak training.

Anya loves to dance because she is a creative and energetic soul. Dance is an art form that she uses as an outlet from her busy school life. She teaches dance because she believes that sharing her passion with others is important, and she gets great satisfaction from watching her younger students grow as dancers.

Outside of the studio, Anya is pursuing academics as an all honors freshman at Moreau Catholic High School, where she is a Senator on her class Student Government, and one of the youngest students in the Moreau Catholic Modern Dance Company. Anya loves all art forms and enjoys singing, acting, and dancing in school musicals. She strives to stay active and be athletic, and also enjoys playing tennis and basketball. She finds joy in being involved and busy in her school community however she can, but she can also be found shopping and eating her favorite foods in her free time.
