Asha Deepika Balla

Asha began her dance journey at the age of ten through Bharatanatyam—Kalakshetra style—for four years in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. As an active member of dance teams in both school and college, Asha performed folk and classical dances . She was later introduced to Hip Hop, Jazz, Salsa, and other dance styles through her college dance team at IIT Madras where she represented her college in the inter-college dance competitions.

She joined the Mona Khan Company as a student in 2014 and, through her passion and dedication to dance, became an instructor in 2016.

In her words: “Teaching dance has helped me understand how to be a positive influence in someone’s life, how to bring a smile on someone’s face, and how to help someone be a better dancer. At the end of the day, there is no more joy to me than seeing my students grow as dancers and knowing that they had a great time doing it.” When she’s not dancing, Asha loves to run. A lot. She is a long distance runner and has completed the San Francisco marathon (a whopping 26.2 miles) twice.
