Montre Bhiwandiwala

Montre began her journey in dance at the age of seven, beginning with Indian Folk Dances at her school for two years and going on to train at the Shiamak Davar Institute for Performing Arts (SDIP) for three years in Bombay, India. She participated in various college competitions under the expert guidance of her elder sister; who is also a dancer and who has been a great source of inspiration in Montre's life. Montre was also fortunate to train under the renowned Bollywood choreographer Farah Khan for almost two years and to perform with Farah Khan's troupe at various shoots. This led Montre to another choreographer of great fame, Ganesh Hegde (with whom Montre's sister was also performing for). Montre performed with Hegde at a Screen Awards show as well as other movie shoots and shows.

After coming to the Bay Area, she furthered her training under Mona and also began performing and instructing with Naach for five years. She has been an active part of Mona Khan Company since the company's inception in 2009 as an instructor, dancer and the company's Auditions Coordinator.

As an instructor, Montre believes that the studio is a place to teach some, learn some and enjoy it all! Her goal is to enable her students to maximize their potential in terms of technique, style, expressions and energy. She hopes to communicate that dance is much more than mere steps; it is an experience.

Dance has been an integral part of her life since she was young. Even as a child, she would teach anyone and everyone who was willing to learn! Now after years of experience, she feels privileged to share her knowledge with all her students

Dance helps her relax, emote, rejuvenate, relieve stress, stay fit and most importantly, as a vehicle to live her life. Outside of the dance world she is a Senior Software Analyst at BMC Software. Montre indulges in cooking, traveling, painting and reading.
